Cersei and Tommen line art

(Yes, I know I spelled her name wrong on the picture. Sue me, it's 8 in the morning. >.< )

I recently finished reading all 5 books in the Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin. I found that by book 3, Cersei had gone from being a rather simple and easy to root against villain to a much more complex character, and ultimately she became one of my favourite characters in the series.

I love how she holds no delusions whatsoever about who she is or what she wants (save for the delusion of control, which is something I think everyone is prone to), and she is not ashamed of any of it.

I love how, in spite of what is seemingly a lust for power, she also does seem to want to be a good queen and wants to be loved for it.

I love how, despite being initially cast as a villain character, her devotion to her children is unmatched. Even Dany ultimately shows far less care for her dragons than Cersei does for her little lions. And while Cersei is by no means immune to having bad judgment, her WORST judgment about her children still makes her look like an easy winner of the Mother of the Century award when compared to Lysa "My Son Still Breastfeeds At 10" Arryn or Catelyn "I Don't Really Care That My Toddler Is Becoming Feral Because I Won't Leave The Room And Abandon My Youngest Sons Like A Dumb Cunt" Stark.

Cersei... Her twincest thing is a little weird, she's vain and prideful and likes her wine too much, and even though technically her sexual preference is "Jaime" she's a better lesbian than a politician, but I honestly think she's one of the more sympathetic and even heroic characters in the books.
